So it is. As I write this, another media frenzy has broken out over the latest doping scandel to hit the Tour de France. Floyd Landis, the winner of the 2006 edition, has tested positive for an unusually high testosterone/epistestosterone ratio (higher than 4:1). Can cycling shrug this image? Or, as I'm more inclined to think - should it shrug this image? Where's the bad? Is dope control effective? According Dick Pound (head of WADA) he says that there are gaps in the UCI's drug testing process. But he doesn't elaborate. Or, is that dope control is effective but the punishment laid down is not a big enough deterrent?
