The illustration shows Carmarthen County Gaol, demolished in 1938, as it appeared after alterations, which included the blocking up of the pedestrian entrance, replaced by a window, under the central arch and the formation of a new access to the right. The building, as originally designed by John Nash, is shown on page 28.
